FAQs

  • Altius CPA is a fit for CPAs that have a client book of business or are quickly building one. However, even if you do not have a book of clients we encourage you to reach out and start a relationship with one of the CPAs already on the platform. There are several CPAs on the platform that consider selling clients from time to time from their books so don't hesitate to reach out to them directly to explore opportunities to potentially buy clients from them.

  • Unlike other Platforms, Altius CPA does all of the core Tax, Accounting and admin work for the CPA. The easiest way to think about platforms for CPAs is on a spectrum. On one side, you have platforms or alliances that are cheap and just offer you discounts on technology and some other bonuses for being part of their "alliance" with no included support. In the middle somewhere are the firms that say they are a platform but still trying to figure out their model. These middle-of-the-spectrum firms usually brand as tech forward (doesn't everyone?) but are very similar to traditional firms in that they are really still struggling hard with staffing like all the other firms. Then on the complete opposite end of the spectrum from "alliances", you have a platform that does all of the work for the CPA. That is Altius, we do 100% of the core tax, accounting and admin for the CPA.

  • No, helping clients doesn't require CPAs on our platform to be in an office. As long as the CPA has an internet connection, can use email and Zoom and continue to be the advisor their clients are looking for, there is no reason a CPA should have to be in an office. We are only on this planet for a short time. We encourage our CPAs to spend time with their family and do what they love, not be stuck in an office.

  • Some CPAs that are just beginning their journey often wonder if an office is needed. The simple answer is it is not but we do see some CPAs use shared offices when they first start out and very quickly end up getting rid of them when they realize almost all of their clients prefer meeting them on Zoom now too.

  • Currently, Altius CPA is open for business to all US-licensed CPAs with a book of business.

  • Currently, the applications are being reviewed that exceed $100,000 in Annual Recurring Revenue and mostly all business clients.

  • Yes, an active CPA license is required to join the platform.

  • Currently, there are no fees to Join however other Revenue minimums and requirements may apply.

  • No, while our priority is to keep you and your relationship with your client front and center as your client’s CPA, Altius staff will work alongside you to collect information from your clients and deliver tax and accounting projects to your clients.

When we set out to build infrastructure as a service for CPAs, we thought about what would it take for us, having been CPAs in public accounting with our own book of clients, to really want to stay in public accounting for the long-term, without having to sacrifice our quality of life like CPAs have to do in traditional practice. The only answer imaginable was to create a new type of CPA Firm platform specifically built for the next generation of modern CPAs and something that we would have joined when we first started out if it had existed.

We then looked at what all of the other modern CPA firms were offering Partners and we could not find a single firm that had a fully comprehensive infrastructure of unlimited staffing resources, financial incentives, autonomy and technology to offer their CPAs. We knew that we had to create a great team environment and a platform that empowers CPAs to build relationships with their Clients via better technology, training and support than what is or will be available to CPAs and their clients anywhere else. Ultimately over many years and a lot of work we were able to create a platform firm where entrepreneurial CPAs can quickly scale their client base without ceilings and enjoy a quality of life not possible in any other model.
